  1. sounds to me it has alot of baggage also the axles have been having problems. If it were me I would try to get something without so many miles. Good luck

  2. The 2003 model year was not a good year for Mercedes when it came to reliability and dependability. The electronics on the S-Class were the worst of the entire model lineup.

This has had a number of items replaced early in its service life that never should have been a problem, including the AC compressor, alternator, body computer, and ball joints. If the replacement parts were upgraded from the OEM to solve whatever issues made them fail so early you *might* be OK. The half dozen trips in for service in its first 2 years on the road don’t bode well either. The normal service interval is roughly every 13,000 miles.

I’d be passing on this one myself. If you had to pay for that body computer yourself, that would be close to 1/3 of the asking price of the car right now. That’s an item that cannot be replaced with a junk-yard replacement either as all of the computers are tied to the VIN at the factory.
