How much should my budget to buy a used but good car?

I’m planning to buy a used car. I won’t spend more than ,000. Anyway, any advice or suggestion? Where can I get a good one?
People , I’m looking for online car auctions , bank repo , police , salvage and such ( so far best one I could find was www.ridesafely.com ) . If someone knows any good ones plz share

If so, did you owe a remaining balance, and did the bank or finance company sue you for the amount?
If they did, how much did you owe, and how long did it take them from the time the vehicle was repossessed until they sued you or got a judgment against you?
I’m a female student who needs a cheap, but reliable car. I am wondering if there are any auto auction places near Tempe, AZ and how they work. Also, does anyone know any good websites to search for cars online?
