Definitely! If you want a car to beat on you could get a car for less than that amount. You could get a fixer upper. You could even get a fairly new car. Take a look at GovernmentAuctions.org They would give you all the info you need on current auto auctions and past ones.

Information is the key in any auction, more so in govt auctions. it literally pays to have info on what , when , where. in this.
There are certain specialist services which give that information.
Try one, you just might be surprised, what you can find in those auctions.

You can get a decent car for $1000. Or you can get a piece of crap.
Look for an ugly car that runs great.
Drive it before you bid. Realize that after you win it,you own it. As IS.

You can get a good car for $1000 at auction, but you have to know what you are doing, know your prices, be able to judge the condtion of the car without being able to drive it, and hope that nobody else is going to be bidding against you. Here’s more about it:
