I was just wondering if those sites saying you can buy a car cheap at police auctions are real or scams? I know police auctions EXIST but I am not sure if there is a real website, most just ooze of scam.

Does anyone know where I can sign up to go to one of these auctions or maybe the URL of a REAL police auction website? Thanks!

P.S. I am in Chicago, so if you know if the Chicago police in specific holds these it would be an even better response…….

  1. They’re real – but don’t expect to get a real deal on a great car. Everyone knows the auctions exist, and they’re well attended. The cars are as-is, as impounded…. not necessarily in the best shape. You’ve got about a 1:10000 chance of getting a great deal on a great car.

  3. Police auctions are real. The best thing to do is check with the State Police since they are the ones usually handling them.
