Interested in a used car thats right across the Ohio/PA line about 20 minutes from my home. Though they don’t require state inspections, is there any major drawback/downside to this?

  1. Shouldn’t be a problem. If you are buying from a dealer they should be able to help you get it registered in PA. with out having to pay twice for the sales tax. If you buy from a private party you just take the title and transfer papers directly to DMV for the registration change.

  2. Sales tax in both states.

  3. you need to ask your state what extra charges may apply when taking an out of state vehicle title and transfering it into your name, issued by your home state.

i can tell you this….if you bring a car to florida and have it registered in florida, the fees are quite a bit high.

if the deal you’re looking at is good, perhaps the low cost can help offset the cost that PA will charge for changing an OH title to a PA.
