Are used car ads in the newspaper legit?

I really want my own car. I can’t afford a new one, so I’m looking for a used one. I’ve been looking through the newspaper and I see all the car ads…Are they legit? What exactly do I need to do?
Also, how can I convince my parents to let me get my own car now? I currently share one with my sister, and in about a year or so, she’ll have to take it down to college, so I will for sure need my own. But I would really like my own soon.

Well it depends on the person selling it, make sure before you buy a car you get a title check done to see if it has money owning on it or has been in an accident etc, and get it checked over by a mechanic.

Most are legitimate but there are scammers out there, so don’t buy the car by yourself and have a mechanic look over it first. Don’t be pressured to buy neither. If you missed the sale there will always another one coming.
