I was a couple months late on my auto loan. Repo man was sent out to retrieve my car. In between the repo man finding my car and towing it away I had sent a Western Union payment to cover the late payments (totalling 07). Repo man still took the car away. Bank has confirmation that money was sent and received. Can I still retrieve my car pay even after I’ve caught up on all my payments or does the bank have the right to keep the car?
Talked to lender earlier in the day and they said as long as I was about to pay the past due amount of 07 I would be able to keep the car. As I am sitting in the car to give them the confirmation number, repo man hooks my car up to his truck and says that once my car is hooked I cannot take it back. So not only am I caught up on payments, I will probably have to pay for the repo fee and storage and towing and whatever it is that cost to repo a car.

  1. Have you ASKED the lender?

  2. That’s why you have to hide the car from the trucker, so he cannot hook up to your vehicle.

What puzzles me is why the repo man hooked up the car while you were sitting in it. Seems there should be state laws against that sort of thing, as he is endangering you by doing that.
