Saw my first a few weeks ago. Light turns green for westbound traffic, traffic starts to go, all of a sudden here comes a woman in a convertible Audi into the intersection to get T-boned by a Jeep Cherokee. I saw it all and became a witness for the guy in the Cherokee. The cutie pie in the Audi had a look of disbelief, like "why didn’t you guys wait for me, can’t you see I’m important and can’t be bothered with red lights while I’m doing business on my phone???". She was probably a realtor chasing the same deal with 20 other starving realtors whose Audis and BMW 3 Series are about to get repossessed.

  1. you’re exactly right. Ive watched people sit thru lights, cut cars off, & cause others cars to wreck b/c they’re on the phone. I did see an accident where someone had the phone b/t their right ear & shoulder, just talking away, & they didnt look before they came over in the right lane. They cut the other car completely off, sending the other car into other vehicles. Fortunately it was on a slow city street & not a busy expressway. the cars werent going that fast so noone was seriously hurt but there was damage to cars. I will admit that the person on the phone was a women.

  2. Nope, not yet.

I’ve been in one, but the guy who hit me had a bluetooth, so maybe that doesn’t count.

  3. I saw it in my rear view mirror when the lady behind me decided that she didn’t want to stop yet. She hit me, and according to her it was my fault that I hadn’t turned right on red yet. Her insurance disagreed.

  4. Yep. Saw it right in front of a neighborhood I was pulling out of — woman was on her cell phone, not paying attention at all to what was going on, went to turn left into the neighborhood and pulled out right in front of an oncoming vehicle. Demolished the front of her car, luckily both people and the woman’s dog were all fine. She just ended up with one very expensive phone call.

  5. I was actually in one. I was coming home from prom night and me and my boyfriend were debating the good and bad that might come from going to the beach. I was going speed limit and I was driving fine but I didn’t know the traffic was coming to an abrupt stop because the 5 lane freeway turned into a 1 lane traffic way in a matter of 50 feet (WHILE GOING 60 MPH!). This lady was stopped right on top of the freeway between the exit lane and the traffic with nothing in front of her and couldn’t decide where to go. According the police report she was on the phone trying to figure out whether or not it would be convinient for her to exit–I hit her from the back at 40 mph because my breaks didn’t stop my car in time. So clearly it as my fault by default.

  8. My Uncle almost caused one. Red light ahead driving straight on to cars waiting for light to turn green, quick swerve into next lane, not oncoming and zoom past all, then quick swerve again to right lane to take next right turn to area where I live. Been wanting to turn him in. Cell phone driving was okay then. IDIOT, my Uncle! All the while he could of called his wife, when we arrived or before leaving the dealership where my car needed to stay overnight for a computer part.

My uncle now lives in New Mexico, US watch out people!
