How can a car lot repossess a vehicle for no reason?
11th December 2010
I had all my payments up to date and next payment wasnt due till this coming Saturday. I had never been late in the 3 1/2 months that I had got the vehicle. I had full coverage insurance from the day the vehicle was driven off the lot. Their "reason for the repossession" I didnt have insurance on the vehicle. I have proof that there was full active coverage on the vehicle from day one. The carlot NEVER requested any proof of insurance before just out of the blue took my vehicle. The carlot didnt care to see what proof I had and told me the only way I would get the vehicle back is to pay it off..which was ,000.00 . So I paid it off and the carlot slapped me with a repossession fee of 0.00 and stole thousands of dollars of my husbands tools out of the truck. So tell me has anyone ever heard of something like this happening before? Oh one more thing the contract clearly states that the only way a vehicle can be repossessed due to insurance is if insurance is canceled!
P.S. I have a lawyer working on this but I just want to warn prople how carlots can be so unjustice to hard working citizens!

I will bet you anything that this is one of those places that sells repoed cars, then goes and takes them back and sells them again. They have probably sold your vehicle many times over.
When you purchase a car, the seller never has the right to take it back for lack of insurance. You are clearly caught up in a scam.

Holy crap call a lawyer! That’s illegal in so many ways I don’t know where to start!

I get the feeling that you’re not telling the whole story. But, if all that you say is true, the car lot is wrong, call the police, get a lawyer, take them to court.

Lawyer..sue them…sounds fishy to me..you may also want to try and find others that may have been "scammed" by the same dealer to see if there is a pattern..if so..they may face criminal charges as well…also contact your state attorney generals office..they love to investigate things like this.

Sounds like a shoddy dealer in the first place and they were definitely looking to "rip" people off, especially unwary people. If you have legal recourse, I would definitely address it with a reputable legal firm. Sounds like you have a case in the legal definition of what is considered coverage. If you say that you have proof of insurance coverage, then make sure that you have ample documentation that they repossess it for lack of insurance – not just their word on it.
Good luck.

I agree, get a lawyer ASAP! I know of several "Buy Here, Pay Here" car lots that always keep an extra set of keys to the cars they sell, in order to repossess them. It sounds like they’re pulling something a tad crooked here, a lawyer would surely be a help. As to the tools left in the vehicle, you might have a tough time getting reimbursed for them. Good luck!

Let the lawyer handle it. It looks to me u may end up getting alot of ur money back when it’s over.

"Car Lots" do not reposess, "Lenders" reposess.
That is UNLESS thay are one & the same as in a ‘buy here pay here’ lot.
Were you not given any prior written notice by the lender regarding proof of insurance?
You MUST provide that information/proof to the lender.
As for the lost/stolen merchandise in the vehicle, you need to file a police report. And an insurance claim…(aren’t you glad that you have that now?)
AFTER contacting the :lender, police, & filing a claim with your insurance,,,,,,,THEN get the lawyer (if neccessary)
