Hi, I’m going to buy a used car from a dealership. I always hear people say a used car needs to be inspected before you buy it. I think it’s easier to request the car to be inspected when you are buying from private party. Can we still do this if we are buying from dealerships? If so, how can we do this?

Thanks

  1. Yep, just find an independent shop that does pre-buy inspections and drive it to them while on the test drive if you like the car. They’ll cost you for the inspection but if you’re buying decision will be based on a good inspection (it should), it would be worth it. If the inspection reveals things wrong but you can live with, you can negotiate those with the dealership. If the inspection reveals things that are a deal-breaker, then you’ll be out the cost of the inspection.
If the salesman insists on riding with you, then do the road test and let him know that you have a mechanic that looks over your cars before yo buy them and you’ll need to take it to him, then take the salesman back to the dealership and drop him off. Any balking by the dealership is grounds for walking away and finding your dream car at another place.
    Good Luck!

a friend of mine didn’t do her homework, bought a car from a second hand dealership, she paid lots of money, when the car repeatedly broke down they told her to f * c k off
