I’m 16 and this summer, I’m going to be babysitting three girls. Their moms are going to be paying me 10 dollars per day for each one and I want to save up for a car since I can get my license at the beginning of September if I take the permit test soon. How much does a decent used car cost?
Also, what should I look for in a car? I’m clueless when it comes to these things.

Well that depends… you could find a used car in reasonable condition for 1500 to $2000,but beware of the junks out there. Make sure you or better yet someone who knows a bit about cars test drive the thing. Look for fluids leaking under the car and check the oil. If oil is not on the dipstick pass on that one. Make sure brakes don’t squeak and the car doesn’t smoke (I hope you don’t either).Don’t be afraid of higher mileage cars especially Hondas or Toyotas they will run if maintained 200,000 miles plus. Don’t jump at the first car that catches your eye shop around.

well to start go to auto trader.com it is a great site and you can type how much you want to spend. if you dont know much about cars take it to a local mechanic and have him check everything for you oil life tires transmission fluid a nice car can run anything between 900 to 5000 dollars if you want something reliable a used 1990s honda civic or accord or if you dont have to deal with snow 1990s mustang or camaro, toyotas are always reliable but have the mechanic check for recalls mileage shouldnt matter as long as it is in good condition and another reliable small fun car is a jeep wrangler i bought one for 5400 and had 160,000 miles and is a very fun vehicle you can take the top and doors off on those hot summer days and can stand almost everything you throw at it and has a huge aftermarket uprades available if you need extra help email me at chevelle890@aim.com

30 bucks to watch 3 kids all day? no offense but you should charge more than that. anyways, a good used car would run between 2 and 5 grand. look for how clean it is inside the cab and under the hood. if its clean than its a good sign the previous owner took care of it. check tires for how much tread is left, check belts and hoses under hood make sure theres no cracks or nothing leaking. check all lights, gears, horn etc. if you know a mechanic or somebody with tools than it would be a good idea to have the engine compression tested.
