the car has 72k miles on it and the dealer has a CARFAX that shows nothing is wrong with the car however the last maintense was performed back in 2004. The dealers asking price is 98.What should i ask the dealer to perform for me before buying this car since i know BENZ eat you up with maintence. i know nothing about BENZ but i really want one i love the way they handle and perform but i am a little worried about the maintence.

  1. The years since the last recorded service would worry me a great deal but if you like this car you’re still interested in it, have the dealer take the car to Benz dealer or other trusted shop of YOUR CHOOSING to have the car inspected. You will have to pay for that inspection (usually they will charge about 1 hour of labour) but then you will have a good idea of what type of shape the vehicle is in and if this vehicle was maintained properly or not.

  2. If the last documented maintenance was performed in 2004, DO NOT BUY THE CAR.

  4. Looks sketchy. I bought a 1998 E 320 from a mechanic with 180k miles for $4900, but it had tons of documentation for service, seems sketchy so unless u get a second opinion from another mechanic and do quite a bit of research I would stay away.
