  3. No, As per my information. The seized vehicles are the property of the registered owners and the police has to return the same to the righteous owners after the legal decision is made by the courts.

    Stolen vehicles if recovered are returned to the rightful owners and if the registered owner had obtained the insurance claim the insurers become the rightful owners .

    In cases if the police authorities are not able to establish the ownership of the vehicles they can dispose off the same after completing the legal formalities and advertising the same before putting the same for any auction.
