Is this common law larceny?

Sly Slim, promises Dimwit Boggins to take Dimwit’s car to an “auto auction” and sell it on Dimwit’s behalf. Instead Sly steals Dimwit’s car. Is Sly guilty of common law larceny? Why?

No he is guilty of misappropriation of goods by deception which is a much worse crime.

It’s not larceny because there was no initial trespass. Sly had a legitimate pretext to take the car in the first place, but has simply not renumerated Dim for it. Dim has already demonstrated that he doesn’t want the car, but does want the blue book value of the car or better. Sly owes Dim money, not a car.
