We always pay our bills on time. We signed up for auto pay for our car payment but something did not process correctly. Needless to say, we dont pay particular attention to the account the car payment comes out of and we didnt notice the payment wasnt made for 3 months. Yesterday our car was repossessed. We have no problem paying what is owed and any fees associated with it, but I am concerned with some things that I have been reading. The bank was very vague in what they told us (mainly because they were closing and clearly didnt want to deal with this so late in their day). They told us that depending on what state we live in we could either just pay the back amount or be forced to pay the entire loan amount in order to get the car back. We have no problem paying the 00 but having to come up with 000 is completely out of the question. We are NY state residents. Does anyone have any information about this? Im terrified we are going to lose our car. Thanks.
Im asking for some advise. If you have nothing useful to say then dont waste my time. I am looking for actual information. Thanks!

  1. first start paying more attention. My daughter had her car repossessed 4 years ago. She paid all that was past due, including late fees, towing fees, storage fees and whatever other fees. She did not have to pay the complete balance. It was an expensive lesson. She paid the loan on time after that and since has paid it off.
