My car was repossessed and?

11th February 2011

My car was repossessed. I received a paper saying they were taking me to court. I spoke with an attorney who gave me advice. Long story short they took it to court. I was advised to take the default judgment because it was my fault. I got a letter after the court date saying that unless I respond to the lawyer of the creditor within 10 days they would assume it was a valid debt. I have not received any other information on what is going to happen. Does anyone know what I should do or if I should have received something from them? This all took place in November 2010.

  1. Now that you have the demand letter, you need to go back to the attorney for advice (again).

Although it’s been awhile (3 months), they haven’t forgotten. They’re probably just waiting on the courts to give them a hearing/trial date.

  2. This is what happens
    You dont pay
    They take car
    they sell car
you owe difference between what you owe and what they sold it for
then you pay or they take you to court

right now all that could happen is you pay or you dont and they go to court for garnishment
