  1. Yeah, these auctions sometimes have great cars. I attended one recently and saw a brand new Cadillac Escalade that had being taken from a drug dealer. I didn’t see anything I wanted and left before that one was sold. You have to know what you are doing, however, or you might pay too much. After all, it is an auction. Here’s an article that kind of explains it:

  3. I got my car from a auction yes u can get a decent car there , but let me warn you it’s the luck of the draw. You can’t start the car, and or do a lot of things that u can do when buying a car the old fashioned way at a car lot or whatever. You really have no idea what you are buying until after u have won the car(bidded and won). You may get lucky and get a decent car but those are some of the cons. As far as the second part of your question it all depends on the car year/make/model as far as starting bid goes. Also be prepared to pay your state taxes which has nothing to do with what u bidded on the car. for instance I bidded on a 2004 pontiac Grandprix and won for 4300 after taxes I ended up paying 5400.00. But I live in chicago taxes may be lower, or possibly higher than where u live.

  4. If a vehicle is impounded, and it has value, usually the owner will do anything they can to reclaim the vehicle. If the vehicle has problems, they are usually unclaimed.

Understand that if there were really good deals there, the professionals (dealers) will be there. Unless you know what you are looking for, there is a good chance that you are going to be buying a problem.

You can not drive the car prior to purchase, in many cases you can not even start them. Expect to have to pay for repairs, sometimes major, before you can drive the car!
