  1. There are a few ways that you can find an auction like this. But the best way is just to call your local police departments and ask them. Sometimes they post information on their websites as well. Be careful that you inspect the cars thoroughly when you go because they sometimes keep the best ones for themselves.

But not all the cars they have are abandoned, many of them are from traffic stops where the person was arrested and had their car towed, and some are seized for other reasons.

If you want impounded cars in general towing companies are another great place to look and so are federal and state government auctions. I put a link to an eHow article below that might help you a little more.

    Good Luck!!

  2. You don’t say where you live, but try Googling "police auto auction…" and the name of your city. Also watch the legal notices section of your daily newspaper for such auctions, and those from towing companies; there was such an ad in our paper today, listing about 20 cars up for auction. Just remember that you’re getting a vehicle that someone else abandoned–probably for good reason.

  3. Try calling up the police station and asking them when their next auction is. Sometimes they won’t tell you though. If that happens try going to http://www.mycarauctionreview.com
