bought a car from a dealership, it wasnt a huge dealership with any BIG name etc. but was a decent size and had been there for quite awhile selling vehicles…. paid for the car through a bank wire transfer, got the bill of sale, now they inform me that I cannot get the car because the owner of the business did not pay the auto auction that the car was from..
The owner bought the car from the auto auction and paid for it with a check.. he then took the car to his lot, sold it to me, and when I went there the auto auction informed me that his check bounced!
Now the dealership, no one is there!
I cannot get ahold of anyone by phone, e-mail or anything!!!
I contacted an attorney now, and I am so distraught.
Any one gone through this or have any advice for me??
I want the car I paid for!
((the reason that i didnt take it the day I paid was because it was being detailed))
Whats going to happen now? Can I still get my car from the Auction??

He actually did OWN it when he sold it.
The auction knew him well, and signed over the title into his name in good faith.
but then when the check didnt clear, they came and towed the car back to the auction….
I contacted the auction and they said this happened before ((not with this dealership i went through))
but with another situation almost exactly like mine….
The way the Auto Auction handled it was to give the car to the buyer, AFTER proper proof of Bill of Sale, & Reciept.
Gave the car to the buyer, and pursued the dealer for the money…
I am hoping they do the same for me in this matter….
The dealership is still up and running and selling cars!!! All they tell me now is that the owner , no one can FIND!

Its really simple…I’ve never been to a police auction before…thought it would be a good cheap place to pick up a used car for my teen daughter…. so anything you can tell me about going to an auction would help… like how to bid do I need to take a wad of cash or will they take a check? what kind of title will I get or do they just give you the papers to file for a sheriff’s lien? you know anything I should know about going to an auction? tips on buying?
remember I’m a real noob to this
