To buy a car from a state auto auction in SC do I have to have some kind of license? and how do I get it? I wanted to go to the midlands state auction today but I dont want to go if there is no possible way for me to bid on a car,

I paid, by check, for a used van. He gave me the bill of sale and the temporary registration, but thus far he has not cashed my check and he said the DMV would send everything to us in the mail.
Does this sound off? It’s been about 5 days since we bought the car.
Thanks for the answers. I’ve never purchased a car this way before so I’m not sure what is normal and what is not.

I’m planning on buying a used car from a dealership this week. I currently don’t have car insurance because I have never owned a car. Now if I were to buy this car would I be allowed to drive it off of the lot with car insurance or would I have to have proof of car insurance before I get there?
