The Explorer has less than 21k miles and is in great condition. It’s certified used by Ford but has worse gas mileage than the Edge.

The Edge has 18k mi, but the CARFAX report shows an accident and damage to the front of the vehicle. No damage is apparent upon inspection of the car, but the extent of the damage is uncertain. I like the design of the Edge, but am reluctant due to uncertain damages.

Thoughts?

I bought a used car last week from a well established dealership. I asked for the carfax report and it took about 10 minutes for him to get it for me. When I looked it over, it looked good but the car does have damage and seems to have some warrantee issues that need to be resolved. I know that not everyone reports damage to their car and thus carfax would show nothing but I just wondered if it is common practice to "doctor" a report?

I have never bought from a auction before but when I looked up the New Jersey State Auto auctions website they seemed like any other auto dealer. One can buy of the lot and they have prices advertised.

How is this any different from than buying from a used car dealer. One can arrange a test drive, the cars come with full carfax report etc

This is their website:http://www.njcarbuyer.com/

Please advise: should I consider this option?

im planning to by a 97 mazda and am 17 w/ a permit for 00. I need some precationary tips and explanations so i dont get played like a fool here, so can you guys help me out? Like when you buy a used car, what are the main things you look for in the car? and, what are some steps you take? like would a carfax report be enough or does it have to be a mechanic?
thanx

I am considering purchasing a car that was bought at an auto auction by a reputable car dealer. It has a good price, a clear title, and a perfect Carfax report.

It seems like a great car, but I wonder why it was at the auction? It is a Toyota, and they are usually great cars to buy and sell…. so I’m rather suspicious.

Can someone tell me why cars end up there, and if cars there can be okay cars?
