My car was taken from my home 1 month ago without confirmation from finance company.

The finance co contacted the guarantor by phone 2 weeks before and said that they would call back as they were informed that the car was paid for 1 year ago, in full end of 2009. They did not call just picked up the phone from my address. I thought it was stolen as I had no prior warning or a note from them, They cannot find the payments and I have sent them proof from my bank for the 6 requested. this has had a massive impact on my life as I drive to work etc.

The finance co did not update their records of change of address for guarantor in 2007 so he did not receive any warning letters and he has not changed his phone number. They called in the past when the could not find payments which was resolved by them checking their records for some time. My circumstances have not changed and set up a direct debit for 5 years without any breaks.
For all that read the details properly, the car was paid for in full 1 year ago and I have the bank statements to prove, the finance company cannot find the payments as they merged with another co in 2007 and they have made previous calls to say that they cannot find payments which they later found. I was not informed personally of them removing it by letter because they did not update their records previously with the guarantors new address. But have always had the same telephone number. We called the finance co because of a previous call they made to the guarnator saying that they was going to remove the care of which they were told that the car has been paid for. And I did report it to the police first and they could not trace ithe car in the whole country for 3 days thats why we called the FC. I also faxed my evidence to the FC 4 times and posted before they finally gave me a call, to say that they received it 2 weeks ago no one updated the history at no time.

I bought a used car 18 months ago. I still owe about 0.00. It has been damaged and currently does not run. I am about 3 weeks late on payments. I and sending hardship letter stating I think I can be up to date by Mid November. If the Finance Co repossess my car then do owe the balance. How can they charge me for something I no longer have? I realize it will go against my credit score. But my credit is bad anyway. Now they are getting so nasty. Should just tell them come and get it flip them off and not pay another cent on the car?
the balance is actuallly 8,000
if i could afford legal advice I could afford to make payment

My husband purchased a car from an Ebay auction. The finance company sends a blank check to you so you can fill it out up to the amount you are approved for. Plainly stated on the check is a date that the check becomes invalid. This is approximately 30 days from the day you receive the check. Hubby flew to VA to get car in Dec. January rolled around &hubby wondered why he hadn’t received a payment book. He called the finance co. They told him the dealership hadn’t cashed check yet& told him to wait. Then the dealership calls him because the check bounced. They didn’t cash it in the alloted time, but they wanted to charge for bad check, turn him in to police in Virginia, etc! Hubby called back and told them it was not his fault &they knew they had 30 days to cash check. He had to do finance process again. Now we have the new check but no one from dealership will take his call or return calls for a week.He spoke to salesman 2day who had the nerve to say it wasn’t their fault. What give?
The General Manager left the message that his accountants were wanting him to "turn it over" to Fairfax county in VA. But he didn’t want it to come to that. He knows that the salesman screwed up, yet he makes threats to us? Meanwhile, since they are dragging their feet, we are driving on expired paper tags, and no way to prove its his except insurance. His job also won’t let him drive it on the army base because of no tags.

I was laid off and my unemployment checks barely covers my rent and food. I called my auto finance co. and told them I wanted to voluntarily give back my car since I could not afford the payments. (I already know about all the consequences; credit rating, still owe the money, etc.) Before I could give the car back the car broke down while driving and won’t start. It happen to break down on a side street that says no parking. Again I’m broke so I can’t afford to tow anywhere that day. When I finally did get a little bit of cash my car had been towed and I assumed is in an impound lot. Just curious as to what any of you would do in this situation; Get the car out of impound to turn it in or just let it sit and let the finance co. go get it themselves since they technically own it. Or maybe another option? Keep in mind I have NO extra money.
