1976 is considered to be the golden year for RC cars. It was at this time that a Japanese company called Tamiya began to make RC cars. Prior to that time Tamiya had produced Highly detailed mini car models. The first RC cars presented to the public by Tamiya were quite costly, but they were also wildly popular. The early Tamiya models have since gone on to become collector’s items. Some of these models are able to fetching costs of $3,000 and even beyond. Tamiya has since released some of the earliest and most known of their models. Those models sold out just as cursoryly as the original models.

Since the 1970s, manufacturers around the world have produced great strides in the production of RC cars. Today there’re RC cars of every type and variety imaginable. Not only may you choose distinct scales of RC cars but you can also select from among nitro fueled, gas fueled and electric fueled cars. There are similarly many distinct models of full-size cars represented in the form of RC cars, making it possible for enthusiasts to finally own their dream car no matter how exotic or expensive the full size model might happen to be. From entry level models to more expensive models, RC cars are still just as renowned as ever.
