Auto Shipping: Better Safe than Sorry
4th April 2010
The fact that the auto shipping industry is expanding rapidly means that the service is growing more accessible, that shipping businesses accumulate valuable experience and develop reliable shipping methods and technologies.
It also means, however, that many new independent companies are eager to compete. It does not mean, however, that all of them have the experience, the resources, nor even the decency to ensure safe auto shipping. In many cases, as in any other business industry, many of the numerous existing auto shipping companies are simply the result of an increasingly commercialized society. Business today is the prevalent survival style and many people are eager to start a company, whether because they really are competent to do so or because they are simply incapable of doing anything else.
The result of this growth then, is not just the ability to offer more and better services, but a growth in businesses with no level of competence. Many of these will blissfully fail before they even get off the ground, but there will remain those whose decline follows a slower path. These are the ones to be wary of. They know they are failing and are trying to cram as much business in as they can before their final, inevitable demise.
It is not always easy to tell when one of these new companies will close. Their sales pitch and competitive pricing can be very convincing as to their reliability and safety. It will not make your day to entrust your vehicle to a company that sends it to the wrong destination with half of the accessories missing and no insurance coverage.
Hopefully you have time. Otherwise, you will not be able to ensure the safety of your vehicle. If you so much as merely consider the remote possibility of having to ship your car sometime next year, take the time to carefully research the current market.
It is preferable to plan the shipping well in advance also because it will allow you to book your order well in advance. Even large companies are pressed for time: urgent orders mean very high prices, even if the job is simple, simply because the company personnel will have to go out of their way to complete your order. The more time you give your chosen company the more likely they are to do the job thoroughly and with care, while offering you reasonable prices.
Businesses do not like to decline offers, especially when dealing with individual private car owners, and are likely to take your order even if they know they are unlikely to complete it satisfactorily. Urgency increases the risk of delay and damage.
Do not deal with any shipping company that cannot show you their MC license and Certificate of Insurance. Make a careful review of the insurance policy to make sure it sufficiently covers your vehicles every need
One sign of a competent company is their willingness and initiative in gaining yur genuine trust. Good companies should themselves offer you to take a look at their insurance documents and will advise you to buy any extra insurance they think is necessary. If a company does not mention any of this, it would be better to find another carrier to take care of your car.

Portland Movers And Locksmiths And Why To Make Use of Portland Movers And Locksmiths And Why To Work With Them
23rd March 2010
Here it is, time for my family to make a move. We must go to a smaller house because my job downsized and we have no choice. We are to use the services of some Portland movers and locksmiths because it will make it easier for me. I am not as young as I used to be and moving furniture is hard on my back.
I like the fact that moving companies have equipment which makes moving much easier. They use dollies which can help move larger appliances. These same dollies are very good at moving larger pieces of furniture. This is simply fantastic to me. Also, they have packing materials which can be wrapped around my sentimental items guarding them from harm.
I never really thought about all the stuff we have gained over the years. Tables, dishes, toys, lamps, knick-knacks, the list goes on and on. My basement has been filled with endless amounts of collections. This can get on my nerves. But, I still want a mover that will take care to protect my items and still not charge me an arm and a leg for the services.
I have asked a few acquaintances what they liked about certain companies they used when my acquaintances had to move. Some have given me a few horror stories. Others have told me very pleasant and agreeable stories to which I will certainly give some thought. Since my move is inevitable, I need to find a company I will use.
If you feel you need more information, then the good old phone book is a great idea. Some think the phone book is archaic but, that does not mean it can not be a fantastic source of knowledge. Look up some companies and inquire about their services. There is nothing wrong with asking questions.
The World Wide Web is perfect for looking up information you want about moving companies. You can even view what other previous customers have to say about the services rendered. My special request has to deal with antique furniture my beautiful grandmother gave to me. I want it packed and moved with delicate hands. I only had to call a few places and found the mover I will probably use.
Portland movers and locksmiths are exceptional at what they do. Do not worry. Get in touch with some of them and see what they have to offer you. You will save yourself some trouble. Try to make the best of this situation.

Finding Outdoor Self Storage Options For RVs
20th March 2010
If you want to enjoy the great outdoors through an RV you have so many choices to make when it comes to the size, the number it sleeps, and more. Owning an RV is a great way to enjoy the outdoors in a modern way. Keep an RV packed with all the necessary items so you can get in it and go anytime. When you are not in it you will need to find a place to store it. Do you know what your outdoor self storage options for RVs are?
Some people do not enjoy the RV lifestyle because they do not know how they could store an RV if they bought one. Maybe you do not have enough room in your yard or your driveway and you do not want to ask family or friends to store it for you. There are several outdoor storage units that are convenient for RV storage.
Before you decide on the first storage facility you come across you need to check out all that is available and get yourself some quotes. Search a number of facilities in the Canada area. You want to inspect the storage units to make sure that they are clean. If you want climate control you need to mention this as well. You may pay extra for it but it will be worth it. You want to make sure that your RV storage is protected by weather and changes in temperature.
An outdoor storage unit is easy to find and very convenient too. The storage unit allows you to park an RV in a safe place where it will be guarded with other RVs. Some RV storage facilities offer pick up and delivery of your RV as well.
You want to find a storage place that has enough space to house your RV. You need to check the terms of service as well. If you want to rent a storage unit for a long period of time, you need to make sure that the facility can accommodate. You need to get a rental cost for long term.
When you are calling around to the storage facilities you may want to have a list of questions to ask them. You also want to make sure you check out the security in each place. If they are locked you want to know if you will have access to them whenever you want to or if you need to schedule a pick up. Some facilities offer 24 hour security protection as well.
The CSSA, or Canadian self Storage Association has a list of storage owners as well as vendors that follow a certain guideline to meet in order to fit on the list. You can use this list to find the right storage unit for you.
There are several outdoor self storage options for RVs you just need to take the time to look for them. Do not settle for storage, you deserve the best. Now you can go out and buy your RV and enjoy life a little more.

A Boston move can be something to look forward to, but it can frequently turn into a move from hell if not planned properly. Boston moving takes special preparation and planning in order to avoid some of the most common problems.
Boston itself is an older city, with many buildings dating to the mid 1800s. These buildings have many floors, and are on some of the busiest and most congested streets on the eastern seaboard. Parking is a major issue, and a major reason hiring a moving company can be headache all by itself.
There are moving companies that won’t even consider taking on these assignments. They’ve done it – and it’s a pain. Trucks need to park blocks away, and workers quit because they have had to haul furniture and boxes a few blocks to their destination – sometimes in horrendous weather.
Which brings us to the next problem. Many of Boston’s older buildings are walkups, which is exactly what it sounds like – you walk up. There are no elevators. Tell a moving company you’re on the second or third floor and your hourly rate can double. Tell them you’re on the fifth, and they might hang up on you!
Even if you are leaving the city for the beautiful suburbs, you might find moving quotes higher if you happen to be moving from an area where parking is a problem, and/or a building without an elevator. You’ll be paying by the hour no matter what, but movers have a difficult enough time just taking furniture out a front door and down a driveway. Taking furniture down three flights of stairs, and walking down the street to where the truck is parked, will cost you dearly.
Typically, an average job needs two people. However, if you have more than a one room efficiency, you should consider having 3 or 4 people; while two are bringing items to the truck, the others can continue working in the house. Remember – you’re paying by the hour. While your only two workers are outside, nothing is being done inside, and you’re being charged!
In addition to traffic and no elevator buildings, there is weather to deal with. Showers can come out of nowhere. Make sure the movers have covers that will protect your things from possible downpours; you don’t want to find out there were chairs or boxes left outside getting soaking wet.

To Ship Your Car or to Sell Your Car
19th March 2010
A good question. Certainly the auto shipping industry has undergone massive expansion recently and offers the public many services to meet their needs. Some will still find that using their services is not worth either the trouble or the cost involved. This is a new industry and such thoughts are reasonable. You don’t want to take advantage of a service you might not really need.
Selling your car in your old place and purchasing a new one at your destination could be one option, especially if you want a new car anyway. Do a cost study to find out what your old car would sell for and how much that new car you have your eye on will really cost – including all the must-have extras. Remember, it may take some time to sell your car, and that may not be a practical option.
You are caught in a double hassle: That of research the auto buying and selling industry and also of researching the companies that make up the auto shipping industry. In the latter case, you must find a dependable company that will deliver your car within a reasonable amount of time and without undue wear and tear. Keep in mind that delivery times are only estimates in the industry. If you must have a specific time of delivery of your car at its point of destination, this will cost you more in every case and some companies simply cannot guarantee exact delivery times.
In the most general terms, if your car is well used and you have no special fish to keep it, you might as well sell it and buy a better car or a cheap second-hand one at your new place. If, however, you won a new car or a unique car you would rather keep, you should naturally prefer car shipping. While some shipping routes may be complicated and thus require significant expenses, most routes are fairly simple, accessible by a single carrier, and thus are likely to cost less than the expense of a good new car.
If auto shipping is your transport of choice, you must do your research and select the company only after due diligence. The last thing you want is very delayed delivery and a car that ends its journey all beat up and filthy. Okay, now that you have decided to use the services of an auto shipper and have found one you trust, you may want to choose the closed shipping or container shipping method. It costs more and it is a little more trouble to load and unload, but your car will be safe from damages due to inclement weather, flying road debris, or theft and vandalism.
Suppose selling your car is the option for you. You can sell to either a private party or dealer. You will get more money from the private buyer but it will take more time and more effort on your part. You will have to advertise, answer calls pertaining to the sale of your car, and wait for the match up between car and buyer to take place. Doing business with a dealer is much easier for you and faster, but you won’t get as much money for your car. However, the car dealer will probably turn out to be easier to work with than the auto shipper.
