Question by Beth L: Where can I find information about car auctions for impounded car?
I just barley went to driving school, and for my Jr. year in high school im going to drive to school, the problem is I need a car.
My parents are willing to get me a car from a car auction, but I have no idea where they might be and where i can find information about them. I live in New Mexico-Rio Rancho
I would really like it if anyone can give me information about car auctions, based on bidding what to look for in a car, all that kind of stuff.
Thank you so much

Try looking in the newspaper or online for auctions near you.
Car auctions are like any other auction you attend… you get there early to inspect the cars, register, bid on the car(s) you like and pay, if you’re the highest bidder.
It’s always a good idea to bring a mechanic with you or at least someone that knows about cars, so you won’t get a lemon.

Long story short my husband is getting 1300 BAH monthly. He hasn’t paid the rent so we are getting evicted and his car was repossessed. He threw a few punches at me so he also has a domestic violence case against him, and I moved out, out of state back to my parents. I am also pregnant. My question is, since I am living away from him for safety reasons am I entitled to the BAH? Especially if it’s obvious that he isn’t spending the BAH where it’s supposed to go?
NO, he won’t get convicted of the domestic violence charge because I don’t have the money to go back and forth to testify against him, so the judge will have to throw the case out (from what the prosecuting attorney told me)
The last thing I have money for is a divorce :/
Well then why do service members receive BAH only after they are married or have children? The last two don’t make any sense, the military gives him extra money not to piss it off as he pleases, but the purpose of it is to support his spouse, or whomever it is intended to. I just confronted another service member about this and he confirmed that the only plausible answer was the first one, because the military isn’t going to give you an extra grand a month for no reason, and if he’s not living up to his responsibilities he can get in trouble.
So I’m currently working with bf’s parents to help bf get his car back. (He’s in Afghanistan at the moment).
The car was reposessed and bf’s parents contacted the company, Santander to see if we can recover the car with full payment. Santander said we had until 5/30 to pay off the car. Keep in mind the car was just repossessed.
We wanted this in writing so that we can pay and get the car back. We didn’t get a Letter of Intent, but instead got a Payoff Letter saying that if we paid the remaining balance, plus the repo fees, they will mail us the title. Of course there’s nothing here stating the possibility of being auctioned off, nor does it say anything about a reposession. it just lists our account number and our car make/model/year as collateral. Letter was addressed as "to Whom it may concern"…..Also lists an address to mail payments to, but was told over the phone to make a payment via Western Union. Here’s the website with the same instructions they gave over the phone – http://www.santanderconsumerusa.com/customers/make_payment_western.aspx
Not sure of the laws and if this is right.
I just want to help pay the remaining balance on the car to get it back for my bf. But not sure if these should set off some red flags? Should I be getting a Letter of Intent? Or does it sound like the Payoff Notice suffices?
Oh, one more thing, they did say we had until 5/30 before car goes into auction, but when they sent the letter of intent, they listed the date as 4/30, and the car was repossessed on 5/9.
i know there are storage fees, that’s why I want to pay off as soon as possible. what i’m wondering is with this Payoff Notice, is this good enough for me to pay the total amounts (not including storage fees), to insure that Santander will give me back the car? I"m afraid if I pay off the car, and then they will still auction it. can they do that?
should i still ask for a letter of intent on top of this payoff notice?

You can get the latest and greatest for really cheap.. umm most of the cars there are brand new cars that ppl just cannot pay off and get them repossessed by the gov. As for pricing you would have to go and check your self but go with cash up front lol. My parents used to go all the time for our cars and they get really good deals.

i recently opened a used car dealership, is there somewhere i can get answers to general questions?
24th March 2011
i recently opened up a used car dealership, and i was wondering if there was somewhere i could get info as to how to buy cars from private sellers, or what type of records should be kept, where to get "drive away temporary tags for buyers" or even where the best dealer only auctions are?
Satan.. where do you get the idea that i am 18? Im 20, and your entitled to your opinion as to whether you think im capable or not. I have financial backing from an endeavor i started in high school. Anyhow, how do you get the idea that i recently bought a car at auction? and that money is tight?
To clear things up, i just passed the Ohio physical inspection, and will be opening up in a few weeks when i get the plates and tags. I come to find out that this info comes in a packet when you pass the inspection. Thanks to the people who actually gave a decent answer.
Just cause i bought a car and wanted to sell it doesnt mean that money was tight. And the 18 was my girlfriend/fiances age at the time, and we were asking for her parents sake. Maybe you should do what the site is intended for… answer questions not give your opinion and call me a liar because i happen to recently buy a house and start a dealership at age 20. I know its not typical but no need to blast someone for no reason
