A tow truck just took her car from her. She told me she was able to remove all personal belongings from the car before he left. She is behind two payments. SHE told me that the driver told her she has until this evening to send to credit company via Western Union or she will lose the car. I asked her what do you do if you get the money. Her response was I send it to the credit company and then I have to go to the Police Department to get my car. What?

My boyfriend told me that a repossessed car is taken by a tow truck and it is placed in a yard with other vehicles. He said she has time to come up with the money and pay it (along with any yard charges). He doesn’t understand the Police involvement.

Does anyone have the definite info on this? We live in Southern California. I am trying to give her the best advice and want to make sure I know how this works.

I am asking for input. This is my friend of 15 years who I have watched grow up. I am trying to make sure what she is saying is legit.

The total price of vehicle was 00.00. The remaining balance of 00.00 was financed through a loan company/bank. My first payment due gave me a 10 day grace period from date due, and a late charge owed if paid after that. Three days after grace period the dealership towed my vehicle. The finance company knows nothing and says dealer has vehicle, but dealership says finance co. has vehicle. Two days no answers from either party. What do I do? Is this legal? Please help legally. Thank you. How do I get personal belongings back imediately that I have in car?
