My car was scheduled to be repossessed. The repo man called me, IDed himself as State Police, and told me to ?

surrender my car or I would be arrested the next day. I was able to make my payment soon after that and keep my car but I’m still disturbed that the repo agent basically impersonated the police. Is that a legal debt collection technique?
It’s in Illinois
I have his phone number, it’s on my caller ID. Also he told me to call him back to inform him of where I would put the car so he could pick it up, so I called him back as well.
I am looking for a website that displays pics as well as prices to buy not auction cars from joplin, moimpound?

I have tried and tried to find a website that didn’t give me the run around and want me to register a bunch of crap just to send me to an auction site. I don’t want to go through an auction process. I simply want to view what vehicles the Joplin, MO police department has in its impound lot and the prices with a picture of the vehicles and then if I see something I like I would like to go wherever the lot is and simply buy a car with no bs involved. Is there any website or phone number i could use to do this? Or do they make it much more complicated than it has to be or should be?
