Im looking to buy a Used car from a private seller. The car has not been registered in 3 years. Does anyone know if I have to pay any type of back registration for the years it wasn’t registered? oh, and I live in California.
The car was not registered because it needed a new timing belt. so It just sat for 3 yrs and now they are selling it.

Question by Jon W: Can i really save thousands at a government car auction?
im looking to buy a new car and i found this website that tells you where the auctions are and everything. Can i really save thousands buying a car from this auction? If you have bought a vehicle from one of these before list it, the retail price, and the price you got it for.

Can you? Yes.

Will you? Most likely not.

Keep in mind, it’s an auction. So let’s say you see a nice BMW you want, and it’s only $ 500.

It won’t sell at $ 500. People will see it, think they can get it for cheap, and the bidding begins.

By the time you’re done, it’s close to how much you would have paid through a private seller anyway.

I am looking to buy a used car through a private sale and I don’t know anybody to come with me who knows about cars so what do I need to check out when I go and inspect any cars?

I want to buy an used car from either a dealer or private seller. Before I do, how would I take the car in for an inspection?
If I find a car that I like from a dealer, how would I set it up where I take the car to an inspector before purchasing? Is there an inspector that I can pay for him to go to the dealer to inspect?

From a private seller, do I just ask the seller to take the car for an inspection, and I would pay for it?

Looking to buy a 2004-2007 used BMW 325xi or infiniti g35x, with mileage likely between 40000-70000. Max budget is about 000. First time car buyer. What will be the various cost that go into this purchase? How will insurance be affected? Is it better to buy from dealer or private seller? Any detailed information is greatly appreciated.
