Don’t forget to turn on your vehicle’s 4-way flashers to warn other vehicles of the accident. Call the police as soon as possible. The police may or many not arrive. Next, be sure to exchange contact information with the other driver. Take down his name, phone number, insurance company, policy number, driver’s license number and license plate number.
You may also want to get other details such as the make, model, year and color of the other vehicle. When you talk to the other driver, be sure not to admit fault. The police will determine who or what is responsible for the accident.
Another good idea would be to take pictures of the cars if you have a camera or camera phone at the ready. Take pictures before the cars are moved. Call your insurance agent as soon as soon as you can so they can begin processing your claim.
