The loan company said if I send the 3 outstanding payments via Western Union, then I can pick up my car and they will add the towing/storage fees to my account. I want to do that but my husband is afraid that they will take the money and won’t let me get my car back. I lost my job 3 months ago and we can’t afford to pay the overdue amount if we can’t get the car back. I asked the loan company if they could email or fax me the agreement and they said "no, it is against the law in most states".

My car broke down in June and I had it towed to a repair shop, they said it will cost over 1k to fix it and I owe towing fee and they charge storage fees as well. I lost my job in May and fell behind on my auto loan payments and definately dont have the money for repair or to pay off towing fees. I spoke to the finance company and they said there is nothing they can do to help me get my payments caught up since I have used all those options in the last 12 months. I told the finance company where the vehicle was if they wanted it since im not going to run into a financial miracle to pay all this money. It has been over a month and they have not picked the car up from repair shop. The repair shop is saying if someone does not come for the car within 30 days they will get a magistrates title and auction it. I dont even know if thats legal and I am just stressed to the limit. Does anyone know if it is legal, or have any advice? I hope this makes sense!
I owe for storage and tow fees only, I told them not to repair since I did not know if I could come up with the repair amount. I knew they could put mechanics lien on it if they did.
The total amount owed to finance company is 8k im behind 3 months which is 1500. The tow service was 50 to tow and 35 dollars a day it has been there since June 23rd..The cars value is a measly 3k as well../sigh

My car was repossessed February 26th. They gave me the 15 days to pay the amount in full, or the back fees due plus all the other fees of the towing/storage etc. to reinstate my contract. Of course I wasn’t able to do that so I had no choice but let it go. Today I just got the registration renewal notice in the mail. Do I still have to pay this even though I don’t have the car anymore? As far as I know, the car has been sent to the place to be auctioned off, but I haven’t gotten any notice of sale yet or any other correspondence from the bank in regards to it.

My friend, is only 19, has no father and was kicked out of his house 1 year ago by his mom. (drinker)
He lives in his car, my apt., just about everywhere… His mom towed his car about 3 months ago for no reason and wouldn’t tell him where it is. We tried calling the police to locate the vehicle, but the cops couldn’t find a record of it being towed because my friend’s mom must have taken off the lic. plates before she called the towing. Now, my friend’s mom gave him a letter stating that he has to pay nearly ,000 for towing & storage fees. We called the towing place and went down only to find out that it had been auctioned off! And they said if he doesn’t pay, they would take him to court. My friend has no money, cause he bought a ,000 car a few weeks ago and works in a grocery store trying to save money for college next semester. I had a recent problem with my car and I left my car in pep boys. When pep boys gave me a very big bill, I decided to sell my car to somebody. So I called this auction company, and I enquired them for a quote to take my car. This guy from IAAI who spoke with me took all the info like name, where the car is and told me I should hand over the car keys and title to his driver and they will mail in the cheque after 10 days. Not liking this plan I said,I want to get paid right when somebody comes to pick it up and I’m comfortable with getting paid 10 days after.So he said somebody from Fremont office will call me and I can talk about it to them. Nobody called me and without my knowledge and my authorization they towed my car to their office. Then Pep Boys called, they say that my car was towed, but they don’t know who did it or where they have taken my car. Finally I had to file a police compliant to locate the car, after which I asked the IAAI representative, tow back the car to my home, since I was not even aware of it and I din’t even authorize them to tow my car. The Manager there, spoke very rude and she said that if I want it, I have to tow at my expense and they are not going to do that for me. I had to tow the car back at my expense. And car when they took was in running condition, but currently wouldn’t start also.So I would like to know, if there is any way I can sue those people for the damages they caused me?. I only expect them to pay the towing expense and repair expense for making it back to running condition.

Any help would greatly appreciated.
