My car was just repossessed. I have never had this happen before. I lost my job in April and filed for disability shortly thereafter. I have no income, I am not getting any unemployment. They are sending letters saying they may file civil judgment on me. I have no money whatsoever. I don’t know what to do.

I live in California. I have been unemployed for 8 months and my unemployment has run out. I have a three year old and now I have to choose between FOOD or my CAR. I don’t care if it gets repossessed, I’ll ride the bus, but how can this affect me now and in the future? I am having a breakdown because I’m doing temp work and anything I can get my hands on until I get a full time job. I am trying my damn best to get employed and fast, but I can’t afford my car anymore. How long does it take for my car to get repossessed and what will happen?
