I am about to buy a used car. Can anyone recommend a good model that I should buy as far as price versus quality / reliability?

  4. a nice used Mercedes can work, maybe a 94 and up Mercedes C class or E class. You have to look hard for one about 4,000 but it can be done.

  5. Wow you have opened a bag of worms there! We need more of an idea of things like price, type of car, how many doors etc etc etc.

    I will just say two letters VW, and leave it at that. :-)

  6. Consumer Reports magazine publishes a special issue on used car ratings. They look at reliability, cost of ownership, and other factors for different makes/models and different price ranges. They recommend "best buy" picks.
