What is the best used or new car to buy and how much?
20th June 2009
I need another car, I have searched the net but all car websites will have you believe that their cars are the best. I think I will get a used car, since you can get more for your money. And the past I have had two brand new cars, but I think I'll go used this time around, 2004 and above. I'm thinking about a van or truck this go around. What do you think is better a car or van/truck. What brand is the best family vehicle? Have you had any problems with a certain brand vehicle?

man i can't belive some of these answers. you are wise in not buying new. let someone else take the huge depreciation hit. I personally buy what your looking at 2-3 low mileage cars. You have to deside what you will be using the car for. Then how long you will keep it. The if you want a car or a "hey look at what I drive status symbol" Cars are made to get people from point a to point b. I have bought and sold thousands of cars and trucks over the years. I think last time I looked it was pushing a million vehicles. We are in the business to advise companies on current vehicles and the lowest cost per mile. Why do you want a van or a truck? Have something to haul?
The best basic transportation is a used Ford taurus. they are cheep to buy used, cheep to fix, very safe, and just a little bit less reliable as toyota or honda and cost a ton less. In a mini van the Chrysler line will give you the best bang for your buck. They also cheep to fix, hold their value and can be had for 4-5 G less then honda and toyota. They have nicer features the the Honda and toyota, ride and handle better and crash better then honda or toyota so insurance is less. If you want a full size truck The Ford E150 van or the F150 pick up. The others out their , no matter whos just pretend to be trucks. You have to know trucks like we do to tell we see what should not break do so on the others. all the others. From frames bending to beds bending or tailgates falling off. Deside what you need to use it for before you buy a truck. Gas mileage is horrible on all of them. I happen to like the New ford escape hybrid as all around vehicle. People who have them love them, few minor problems, gas mileage is in the 30's and its all wheel drive.

best family vehicle i think i would go with a van such as the honda oddesy but if your a more sporty person go with another good family one and get a chevy colorado crew cab thatll be popular with all the other soccer moms and such car really isnt practical witha family but if you did go with a jetta very safe

Full size truck = Toyota
mid sized truck = Toyota
sedan = Toyota or Honda
SUV = Toyota or Honda
minivan = Toyota
Toyota's & Honda's the best!
Toyota & Honda are most reliable!
Toyota & Honda are cheap to fix!
Toyota & Honda will last longest!
Toyota & Honda are not that expensive to purchase!
Stay away from European automobiles.
When they start to have problem, you'll end up spending 10 times more & not as reliable as HOnda or Toyota!

yeah i would try and stay away from most american cars they are a little less relyable, and dont last as long. but hondas and toyotas have really good re sale value and last along time.

I feel your pain. I am currently researching on buying a new car. The problems my family has had with are Fords. Those have the most problems for any of their models. I agree with the guy above me who said that Toyota's are the best. I am probably buying a Toyota because I looked in the consumer reports and they get the best mpg. Mine gets almost 40. They also excell in safety and affordability. Just go to the website

If you want to buy a high quality used car with a lowest price for the most reliable,I suggest you try auto auctions.
There are there kinds of car auctions.
Dealer only auctions — only licensed dealers are allowed to buy or sell cars,You can not get in or bid without being a licensed car dealer or an employee.
Public auctions — the public is allowed in.In fact,you usually cant by anything from public 'open' auctions because usually the pricing is too high.
Government and Police auctions — Every day, the government confiscates, seizes and repossesses thousands of Vehicles.These vehicles are usually typically listed at 90% OFF their original value and auctions usually start at $100.
Two months ago,I bouht a near new SUV from online police auction.It only cost me $730 and i have not had one problem with it yet .
I followed the guide on
http://www.usedcarsinfo.info/index.php?t=usedcar .That site lists top 5 Police auction sites and help you choose the best one.
Good luck!

alright if you want a used car try getting a chevy or ford they will hold up but if they are from the 80s check the fram for cracks you do not want if it has cracks in the frame. another way to get a used car is classifieds.

Do not even think to buy a used Pontiac Grand AM. I bought a used a year ago and the engine failed.
Last week an April 24 2007, I bought a used van Plymouth Voyager at TYSON MOTOR CORP , SHOREWOOD, IL. On April 29,2007 this van died.
The dealer did not give me any money or did want to fix this van.
Watch out what you are going to sign when you will buy the car.
At the repair shop where I wanted to repair this van, the mekanic told me that the engine is small for this van, and those vans are not worth.
