  1. Make a visit to the http://www.carsurvey.org website, and check out actual reviews people made about a particular vehicle that interests you. I am mechanically inclined, and strongly recommend this website to anyone! Its a better source than consumer reports. 100 percent better!

  2. The best idea would be to find some good automotive site to help you out on this….check out sites which allow you to find such used cars for FREE like http://www.indimoto.com Click on their used car section & wooo u’l get plenty. What more they dont charge anything as you directly reach the buyer.

  3. Your best bet would be Honda, Toyota, or Nissan in no particular order. I run an auto repair shop and this comes from experience.

  5. I’ve had several different makes and the best one I’ve ever had has to be my 95 Saturn SC1. It’s currently at 197,000 miles and counting with VERY few mishaps over the years.

I have had major problems with the transmission in a 97 Chrysler Sebring and 00 Dodge Stratus. Also had starter problems with a 88 Ford Taurus but it was still a decent car.

  6. 1987-1983 Fox body Mustang. Even if you need to fix something parts are every where cheap and you can beef them up with little coast.

  7. Try these sites for info on used cars.

    http://www.caranddriver.com/custom/kbb/

    http://www.edmunds.com/zipcode/used/

They have pretty reliable info. Also try yahoo’s auto link.

Consumer reports also has a guide, but you may have to be a member.

  8. Hondas, Toyotas or Subarus are good.
I would go with a Subaru Legacy. Good reliabilty, safety, handling and resale value

  9. It depends on where you live because the model ranges are often different from Country to Country. If you live in the UK, the old Honda Civic is a great car and a lot cheaper now because the new car has just come out. They are very reliable and they still hold their value well. If you live in the USA, I’m afraid I cannot help you.
