I have an appoitnment today to check out a used car that a guy is selling. The car has just 12,000 miles, is a 2008. I don’t think it has any problems but I’ll buy the car fax anyways. All I want to know, is what especific things I should look for besides checking the engine and stuff like that. What papers should the oner show me?
How should I handle the documentation (title, registration and plates)?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

  1. Before buying the car you should also compare insurance prices for these cars to estimate how much you will really pay for it – carquotes.fateback.com

  2. that he/she has the title to it that it runs and are they willing to have you take it to a mechanic so you can have it checked out

  3. First make sure this car has a clear title( no accidents, flood damage, salvaged) and can be insured. I would take it to a mechanic of your choice tohave h look at it ( poss $70 fee) , if that us not poss look at the tires any non normal wear, if the car has been parked in same spot look for any oil or fluid leaks, take for array drive and make sure it doran pull when hand is off steering wheel, with this low miles they should have a maintenance record if it does that says they took are of it and a mechanic has looked over the car and all guidelines to maintain it. Good Luck!

  4. The papers and the official receipt of the car.

  5. If you don’t know what to look for then you are obviously not qualified to perform the inspection yourself.

Hire a mechanic. They even come to you.
