  1. Most impounded cars are sold by a wrecker service who has a contract with the city or county to tow off abandoned cars.

    They often don’t run, don’t have keys and were judged not worth paying the towing fee by their owners.

    Most of the time the high bidder is a salvage yard.

    You aren’t going to find a great running car worth $5000 for $1000.

    You are going to buy an unrunning car without keys and you have 48 hours to get it off their property.

  2. you really don’t want to buy from police auction most of the cars do not have keys to them they were abandoned for a reason some of them are there for non payment of tickets if original owner didn’t want them do the price of a ticket why do you find the auctions that are public and get dealer cars in. they have keys you can start them up and almost all of them will be in better shape then at a police auction. look in your yellow pages or yahoo car auctions in your area
